Up 14 late, can withstand ucla northwestern’s rally

Tyler BiloDeau scored 19 points, Aday Mara came from the bench to register her second career double-double and UCLA held a furious, late-game-rally in a 73-69 victory over Northwestern on Monday in Evanston, ill.

UCLA (21-9, 12-7 Big Ten Conference) went on an 8-0 run late in the second half and built a 12-point lead that gave the Bruins a two-digit pillow for most of the game’s last five minutes.

After keeping in the regulation with 14 minutes, Wildcats (16-14, 7-12) was on a 13-0 driving. For Berry broke out in seven points in just 25 seconds and covered the northwestern blast with a layout to pull wildcats to within 68-67 with 21 seconds left.

Skyy Clark shared his free throw attempts after the Northwestern sent him to the Foul line on the subsequent possession, giving Wildcats the ball down by two. Their hope of completing Rally ended when William Kyle III came away with a steal from Nick Martinelli, and Clark and Eric Dailey Jr. Put away the game at the charity band.

Dailey finished with 12 points to help UCLA snap Northwestern’s three-game winning line. Dailey also took six returns.

Clark finished with 10 points, four returns and seven assists, including one to Bilodeau during a sequence when UCLA built its 14-point management. BiloDeau and Clark performed a perfect pick-and-role, culminating with Clark snapping a bounce pass for Cutting Bilodeau for his second can in as many possessions.

He flushed another when Dylan Andrews pulled a double team and threw one without a look pass to Bilodeau at the edge.

Mara finished with 11 points and 10 returns – six offensive – in 16 minutes.

Berry led Northwestern with 22 points and shot 4-for-9 from 3-point intervals. Berry also took a team high seven returns.

Martinelli got 20 points, KJ Windham added 10 points and Jordan Clayton went for seven assists and six returns.
