Forward Brady Tkachuk will not return to Team USA’s 4 Nations Face-off game against Sweden on Monday after losing balance and barred into the opposite goalkeeper during the first period.

Tkachuk, 25, crashed into Sweden goalkeeper Samuel Esson’s legs and skates and unloaded the net. His next shift lasted for 10 seconds before he went out and went to the dressing room, probably for treatment.

Tkachuk returned to the bench and came back on the ice for another shift, which lasted for 14 seconds. He set out the rest of the period and did not show up at the beginning of the other.

No official injury update was given.

Tkachuk is the Ottawa Senators’ leading goal scorer this season with 21 goals to go with 23 assists in 56 matches. He scored two goals in the US tournament opener, a 6-1 victory over Finland.

The United States already missed Tkachuk’s older brother Matthew Tkachuk, who set out on Monday with a lower bodily injury. The Americans are already sure to move on to the championship against Canada on Thursday in Boston, regardless of the result against Sweden.
