Mikhail Sergachev made twice for the Utah Hockey Club in a 5-2 victory against Buffalo Sabers on Thursday in Salt Lake City.
Dylan Guenther broke a third period tie for Utah (31-27-11, 73 points) before Kevin Stenlund and Sergachev added insurance goals. Logan Cooley also scored and Karel Vejmelka made 26 rescues.
JJ Peterka and Ryan McLeod made for Sabers (27-34-6, 60 points), while James Reimer finished with 25 rescues.
Cooley gave Utah a 1-0 lead at 17:27 after McLeod’s clearing attempt hit Clayton Keller’s legs and diverted in front of the net. Nick Schmaltz collected it and Dishing for Cooley, who lifted it over Reimer’s arm.
Peterka, back in the Buffalo range after missing three matches with a lower bodily injury, scored a one-hour from the right circle from a feed from Jason Zucker on Power Play to bind it 1-1 with 11 seconds left in the first.
Beck Malenstyn seemed to give Saber’s lead 11 seconds into the second period, but Utah challenged for goals for goalkeeper. The goal was reversed after the video overview showed that Malenstyns Sticka tangled with it of Vejmelka in the fold.
Sergachev put Utah forward 2-1 at 11:50 and shot a snap shot through the traffic that struck a shielded Reimer blocker.
McLeod also pulled Buffalo with a short -handed atmosphere of 1:32 of the third period. Utah could not join an intersection in the neutral zone, and McLeod picked up the loose puck for a break and lifted a backhand over Vejmelka’s left arm.
Later during the period, Reimer Michael Carcon’s shot stopped but could not control Rebundet and saw it not roll to the right, where Guenther quickly put it in the net to make it 3-2 Utah at 14:13.
Kevin Stenlund was credited with an empty network target on a delayed penalty against Utah to extend it to 4-2 at 18:50. Thompson missed a passport attempt in the Utah zone and the puck rolled down the ice into the empty net.
Sergichev another plot-net goal, card hand, at 19:41 for the 5-2 final.
