Real Madrid traveled to meet Deportivo Alaves on match day 31 in the La Liga season 2024-25, just days before a crucial UEFA Champions League quarter final’s second leg against Arsenal. But the match took an unexpected turn when Kylian Mbappe got his first red card since he joined Los Blancos, after a ruthless challenge.
Madrid opened the score in the 33rd minute with a spectacular strike from long range from Eduardo Camaveringa. But Momentum quickly shifted just minutes later.
In the 36th minute, Mbappe lunged into a dangerous tackle at Antonio Blanco, caught Alave’s midfielder high on the ankle and left him who circles in pain. Originally, judge Cesar Soto Grado issued a yellow card for the foul.
But after one was -review, Soto Grado turned his decision and considered the challenge exaggerated. Mbappe was shown a straight red card in the 38th minute and left Real Madrid down a man for the rest of the match.
MbappĂ©’s red card. Correctly gloomy challenge.
