When multimedia artist Elizabeth Tenhouten collaborated with director Ashley Avis for two visionary fashion films

Many have acknowledged writers, poet, singer writers and model Elizabeth Tenhouten for his deeply expressive work in several creative areas. But not so many remember the time when she turned her eyes on another creative project: production of fashion films in collaboration with the acclaimed film director, Ashley Avis.

In 2014, Elizabeth and Ashley put their talents to create two fashion films showing the luxurious jewels in the jewelry line alone, very popular in Japan. The first movie, ClassicWas equally romantic and sensual and used a background at the beach for a truly atmospheric environment. It played Itaso Bolivar and Peter Kraus, which Elizabeth and Ashley would continue to cooperate with again for their second fashion film for lonely. The film received a nomination for best film at the Miami Fashion Film Festival. Red Hot Society Ricardo Garcia called the movie “A surreal capture of moments of love, desire and attraction.”

The second collaboration of the duo was on the fashion film Mating flight, Who told the story of a man demolished between his feelings for two women. For this movie, Itso Bolivar and Peter Kraus were once again decorated in the lonely the famous jewels. This time they were also united by Kara Davis, who played the role of Love Triangel’s third piece. Mating flight Illustrated both Ashley’s knowledge of creating unforgettable images and Elizabeth’s skill to organize and use their connections in the industry to the best of their ability.

Elizabeth is not a stranger to be in front of the camera, seen in the music video for her song “Broken Dreams”, as well as her modeling project, which includes Stints that poses for respected photographers like Tyler Shields. This experience served her well by familiar her with all aspects of producing visual content, which would prove to be practical on projects such as Classic and Pairing flight. Her production work liberated Ashley to bring her vision and visual skill to the project.

When she directed the fashion films, Ashley Avis was just a growing filmmaker without any major film productions under her belt. Since then, she has had the opportunity to work with industry guides such as Kate Winslet at Disney’s 2020 adaptation of the classic novel Black beauty. Ashley also went on to direct Critics Choice Award-nominated documentary Wild Beauty: Mustang Spirit of the Westwhich was released in 2022.

The duo continued to show their fashion films at a special event that hosted by Daniel Maltzman Gallery 2014. Maltzmann, known for her pop-art paintings, was a former partner for Elizabeths, since she had previously served as a model for one of his paintings. During one night, Maltzmann would remove his paintings from a wall in his gallery to accommodate a projector that would show the fashion films for a WHO’s WHO list of guests in the gallery.

Elizabeth and Ashley have since continued their steady production of creative projects. Elizabeth continues to work with her craft as a musician and last releases his album Dream, which has been released on all major digital music platforms. Ashley has just finished work on the movie Lamb and prepares to shoot an adaptation of the book The dark between the stars of the mysterious best -selling poet known only as Atticus. This duo will continue to find inspiration and create memorable works of art throughout their long careers.
