Chicago White Sox placed Martin Perez on the 15-day injured list Saturday and recalled the left-wing trader Jared Shuster from Triple-A Charlotte.

Perez left Friday’s match against Boston Red Sox after three rounds of left elbow inflammation. He allowed five hits in his 52 places, one of which was the first of two three-run homers by Trevor Story in Chicago’s 10-2 loss.

“We need Martin,” said White Sox Manager Will Venable on Friday night. “We need the things he does at Haugen, the things he does in the clubhouse.”

Perez, 34, is 1-1 with a 3.15 era in four starts this season, his first with the team since he signed a $ 5 million contract.

A first time All-Star 2022 with Texas, Perez is 91-88 with a 4.43 era in 318 Career Games (273 starts) with Rangers (2012-18, 2022-23), Minnesota Twins (2019), Red Sox (2020-21), Pittsburgh Pirates (2024), San Diego, San Diego Pirates (2024);

Shuster, 26, is 3-0 with a 1.59 era in six relief performances with Charlotte this season.

He has gone 6-8 with a 4.93 era in 50 career games (15 starts) with Atlanta Braves (2023) and White Sox.
