Losses and injuries have been mounted for Chicago White Sox during the first two weeks of the season.

“It will be one of these things that happens,” said the manager Venable. “We know that every team handles it, so we have to push forward and find out a way to pick up the slack.”

An infusion of energy from bench players that include larger roles, plus a new harvest of players marketed from Triple-A, helped Chicago snap an eight-game losing line Friday. On Saturday afternoon, White Sox can hope that more of the same can direct them to their first season series when they are hosted to Boston Red Sox.

Chicago Out-Hit Boston 12-7 on the way to an 11-1 victory in Friday’s series opener. The other Baseman Chase Meidroth, acquired from the Red Soorganization in a seasonal trade that sent Ace Garrett -turning to Boston, had one hit, three walks and got twice in its Major League debut.

“It’s fantastic,” said Meidroth. “It’s a kind of full circle moment.”

Strange as it may sound, White Sox will try to avoid what happened on the heel of their latest blowout victory at home.

Chicago, who came from a modern major league record 121 losses last season, improved to 2-2 with a 9-0 shutdown by Minnesota on March 31. Friday marked its first victory since that game.

Boston has dropped four out of five while he only made nine runs on the heel on a five-game winning line. Red Sox crushed against White Sox right-wing trader Davis Martin on Friday and handled a run in his six-plus round.

Red Sox made five errors and knocked out 11 times.

“A bad night overall,” said manager Alex Cora. “We didn’t hit, we didn’t play defense and we didn’t hit. So turn the page, be ready for tomorrow. We just have to get better. … We know what we have to do; we have to show up tomorrow and be better.”

Right-handers Richard Fitts (0-2, 4.50 era) hope to get more driving support Saturday. Fitts has delivered quality start in each of its two excursions this season, but Red Sox has only four runs.

Fitts comes from Monday’s home 6-2 loss to Toronto, when he spread three runs and six hits in six rounds with four walks and four strikes.

Cora said he believed that Fitts, 25, “did a good job” like “he is still learning.” Saturday will only mark its seventh career start.

Fitts met White Sox in his Major League debut on September 8 at Fenway Park and made one without a decision. He scattered two unreasonable runs and six hits in 5 2/3 rounds with a walk and two strikes.

Left-hander Martin Perez (1-0, 0.73 era) will look to keep his success for early season for Chicago. Perez has allowed a earned drive and knocked out 13 in 12 1/3 rounds covering two starts.

He made a decision on Sunday at Detroit, which allowed a run and four hits in 6 1/3 rounds in his team’s 4-3 loss.

In 11 career appearance (10 starts) against Red Sox, Perez is 5-3 with a 4.60 era.
