A woman sues a hotel in Las Vegas Hotel casino for damage she claims, maintained when a lift fell 22 stories.
Rebecca Keith Wood submitted a civilian action in Clark County District Court against Palms Hotel-Casino, Palms Place Condominiums and Otis Elevator Company who claimed that the parties were negligent in maintaining and inspecting elevators in the premises. Wood is true for financial compensation of over $ 15,000 for general and specific damage in addition to legal fees.
Neither Palms Casino Resort nor its listed lawyer responded to a request for comment.
Wood originally submitted on March 3 and named Palms Hotel casino and its listed owners, FP Holdings LP, Otis and TK Elevator Corporation as respondents. On March 14, the TK lift was voluntarily dismissed from the complaint. A changed complaint was filed March 20, with Palms Place called a respondent.
According to the complaint, Wood was an invited guest in the property on May 5, 2023. During her stay, Wood suffered “serious injuries” when a lift lost 22 stories.
It is unclear whether wood was inside the elevator or nearby when it fell, how she suffered from her injuries or the extent of her injuries.
The complaint says that Wood “received medical and other treatments for injuries affected by her physical limbs, organs and nervous systems, all or some of which conditions can be permanent and inactivating.”
A Wood lawyer did not return a phone call seeking comment.
Time claims that the defendants had a duty of care to warn the guests of the elevator’s “dangerous, obvious condition”. It further claims that the aforementioned defendants should have maintained the elevator in an “safe and operational way” and to inspect the lifts for any errors.
