Yes Morant got 32 points, Desmond Bane had 30 to go with nine returns and eight assists, and the visiting Memphis Grizzlies kept on defeating New Orleans Pelicans 107-104 Sunday evening.
Scotty Pippen Jr. Added 12 points for Grizzlies, who played without a leading goal scorer Jaren Jackson Jr. (ankle) for the third game in a row.
Trey Murphy III Scored 27 Points, Karlo Matkovic Had 13 Points and 11 Rebounds, Jordan Hawkins and Kelly Olylyk Scored 12 Points Each, Jose Alvarado Had 11 Points and 11 Assists, Antonio Reeves Scored 11 Points and Yves Missi Had 10 Played Without Leading Scores Zion Williamson (Reconditioning) and Fourth-Leading Score CJ McCollum (Vila).
Grizzlies started the third quarter with a 14-2 driving and took a lead of 71-66. Murphy got Pelican’s next 12 points, but Memphis extended the lead to 89-79 at the end of the period.
New Orleans scored the first seven points in the fourth quarter and extended it to a 17-2 run that produced a lead of 96-91. Memphis made only four free throw until the first field goal for the fourth came with 4:04 when Morant’s 3-pointer started an 8-2 run that gave Grizzlies a six-point lead with 1:57 left.
Pelicans crawled within two points with 10 seconds left before Morant made one of two free throw. Alvarado and Olynyk each missed a 3-pointer at the final holding.
Hawkins got seven points and Missi added five when the Pelicans took a lead 18-11. Bane made three times on units for the basket and Jaylen Wells and Pippen each made a 3-pointer to help Grizzlies come within 27-26 at the end of the first quarter.
Morant’s Floater started the score for the second quarter and gave Memphi’s lead shortly before New Orleans made a pressure. Reeves made three 3 points, Matkovic and Jamal Cain made one each and Bruce Brown converted a three-point game when the Pelicans took a lead of 47-33.
Morant had a 3-point and a three-point game, Jay Huff made two 3-points and Pippen made one to help Grizzlies climb within 64-57 at half time.
