Yungblud Is back with a track that feels like a musical love letter to British culture. His last single, “Lovesick Lullaby,” Is a full part of the anthem filled with oapologetic energy and a signature Brit-pop edge. Alongside the release, the fans are treated with a visual dynamic music video that merges pop culture, fashion and a celebration in your face of all British things.
Directed by Charlie Sarsfield, the video takes us on a journey through London’s streets, where Yungblud, sports British brands such as Burberry, Fred Perry and Sir Tom Baker, are in a packed pub after crossing the city in a black taxi. The picture is full of nods to the British pop culture, including a cry to the unforgettable Maxell “Maxell” Break the Sound Barrier “advertising. Yungblud, which sits in an armchair while he gets blasted by speakers, causes chaos and tension of rock ‘n’ n ‘n’ n ‘n.
Musically, “Lovesick Lullaby” is a deviation from his previous edition, the epic nine minute track “Hello Heaven, Hello.” This time, Yungblud channels the raw intensity of the British pop and rock and delivers a sound that is bold, brash and impossible to ignore. In its own words, the song “is a chaotic blast of energy” that came to life in a whirlwind of fun, with Yungblud who explained, “Making this song was af*cking party and you can hear it on the recording.” The track captures his return to the heart of British music, anchored in the culture that shaped him.
When he reflected on what made him write the song, he shared: “I have been on a trip and tried to find meaning in different places all over the world, for which I am eternally grateful, but it felt like my feet left the ground a little too much and I had to bring me back … to British music, to British art and culture.”
Alongside the single, fans can expect more from Rockstar. Last month, Yungblud showed up at the Jonathan Ross Show, where he annoyed new details about his upcoming album and shared news about the return of his fan-favorite festival, Bludfest. The festival, which is now entering its second year, aims to make live music accessible to everyone with an affordable ticket price.
