Zach Hyman scored a Power-Play goal at overtime and Leon Draisaitl and Jeff Skinner each had a goal and help to lift the visiting Edmonton Oilers to a 4-3 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday.
Calvin Pickard stopped 29 shots for Oilers, who benefited by Draisaitl’s other multi-point games in as many nights to swipe a back-to-back. Edmonton won 3-2 on overtime at St. Louis on Tuesday.
Oilers recovered from a slow start to surpass the Blackhawks 38-32. Chicago has dropped three in a row and six out of seven (1-3-3).
Hyman finished the match at 1:36 by OT and sent a net front feed from Connor McDavid past the Blackhawks goalkeeper Arvid Soderblom.
Chicago gathered for a couple of goals in the last eight minutes to bind the game with 3:44 left in regulation. Ryan Donato started the power with a tip-in power-play goal and then helped Alec Martinez’s equalizer.
The Teuvo Teravainen almost finished the comeback for the Blackhawks and hit the cross beam in the end seconds. Teravainen had two assists and finished with eight points in three matches against Oilers this season.
Skinner made 1:11 of the third and collected Draisaitl’s pass behind the net and ended with a nice backhand.
Draisaitl’s League best 38th goal at 8:18 by the third extended Oiler’s lead to 3-1. Edmonton’s Forcheck forced a turnover deep in the Chicago zone and Draisaitl capitalized.
Edmonton took a 1-0 lead of 8:51 of the second period when Viktor Arvidsson beat Soderblom from a difficult angle. Soderblom, who made 34 rescues, was apparently square to meet Arvidsson, who was about a shot over the goalkeeper’s blocker on the short side.
The Blackhawks forward Jason Dickinson left the game a few minutes earlier after his left leg bent under him as he tried to get control of the puck near the middle. Dickinson put minimal weight on his leg while helping the dressing room Chicago and did not return.
Chicago interim coach Anders Sorensen changed Lukas Reichel to the second line as a result, a feature that paid dividends during the end seconds of the second period. Darting to the net, Reichel tipped a teravainen -wrist shot from just outside the right circle Past Pickard to bind the game at 1.
Edmonton won the season from Chicago 2-1.
