Zara McDermott is to explore Thailand in the new BBC Three documentary

In a new documentary series made by South Shore Productions for BBC Three and BBC iPlayer, Zara McDermott will visit Thailand to explore the destination increasingly seen as a “rite of passage for young Brits”.

Starting in bustling Bangkok and traveling to the party islands, with unrivaled access and a lively cast, Zara will take a journey across the country to discover why hundreds of thousands of young Brits flock to this exotic location every year.

From backpackers to those looking for long-term roots – the new documentary will reveal the secrets behind this “large and varied country” and watch what can happen when “dream of paradise gone wrong”.

Commenting on the new series, McDermott said via a BBC press release: “I’m excited to discover a country that so many young people like myself are heading to right now. There’s clearly a fascination with the nightlife, the parties and fantastic beaches – but there seem to be other exciting reasons why people go to Thailand and stay.”

With executive producer Naomi Templeton adding: “We’re delighted to be working with Zara. She will offer a fresh perspective on the many reasons thousands of young Brits are drawn to explore Thailand each year.”
